Dr. Hratch G. Semerjian

Dr. Hratch G. Semerjian is the Chief Scientist Emeritus of the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) in the U.S. Dept. of Commerce.

Dr. Semerjian was elected a member of the National Academy of Engineering (2000) and a Fellow of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (1996).  Currently, Dr. Semerjian serves as a Science and Technology Consultant and is a Visiting Professor in the Mechanical Engineering Dept. and the Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering Dept. of the University of Maryland, College Park. 

 

Dr. Semerjian is also a historian; he just completed a volume on the history of NIST: NIST - The Crown Jewel of the Federal S&T Enterprise!.  This volume is being prepared by NIST for publication. A draft can be found below.  He is also working on a personal memoir: Growing up in Istanbul as an Armenian.  A draft can also be found below.
